Ipswich Town - Leeds: Form Analysis
Ipswich Town, who were promoted as League One champions, have started the season in red-hot form. They are one of two teams to have won all three league matches, the other being Leicester City. Kieran McKenna’s side’s defensive solidity so far sees them edge Leicester at the top on goal difference. They have conceded just one goal while scoring five. This form has also been extended to the League Cup where the Blues are now through to the second round. They beat QPR by a solitary goal away from home last time out, their third consecutive match keeping a clean sheet. Key to their form last season as they sealed promotion was their home form. This has been extended to this season. The Tractor Boys are now unbeaten in 19 matches at home, excluding friendlies. Fifteen of those fixtures have ended in wins including the last 10. Ipswich have not lost to Leeds in five meetings as hosts and have won four times.
While Ipswich are flying high at the top of the standings, Leeds are struggling on the opposite end of the table. They’ve drawn two of their three league matches and sit just one point above the relegation zone, with two points. Leeds suffered their first defeat of the season in their first away match of the campaign. Daniel Farke’s charges lost 1-0 away to Birmingham on Match Day 2. They will hope to fare better in their second away match of the season. The Whites bounced back from that defeat with a 1-1 draw at home against West Brom last time out. They were briefly able to set aside their inconsistencies in the League Cup where they recorded their first win of the season. This was a 2-1 success at home against League One side Shrewsbury. Leeds suffered relegation from the Premier League last season with their away form playing a big part in this. They finished the season with five straight away day defeats.

Ipswich Town & Leeds Squad Analysis
Ipswich have scored seven goals in their last four games with no player scoring twice. Such unpredictability has turned out to be a major strength for them. Kieran McKenna has largely had the same squad for Ipswich’s three league matches. Conor Chaplin, last season’s joint top scorer with 26 goals, scored Town’s winner in the 1-0 success over QPR last time out. He will again be expected to line up behind striker George Hirst here. Hirst scored the winner in Ipswich’s 2-1 victory over Sunderland on Match Day One. For this match, Ipswich will be without defender Greg Leigh who has left the club to join Oxford United. Leigh played two matches for Town this season and started in the League Cup against Bristol. New signing Brandon Williams is expected to take his place after signing on loan from Manchester United.
Daniel Farke has given starts to 18 players thus far for Leeds in their three league matches. This proves that he is yet to find his strongest starting XI. The midfield pivot of new signing Archie Gray and Ethan Ampandu has remained unchanged so far as has Illan Meslier in goal. The other constant fixture in the squad has been winger Dan James. The Welshman put up a man-of-the-match performance against West Brom and assisted Luke Ayling’s equalizer. Wantaway striker Willy Gnonto has returned to first-team training this week after missing Leeds’ last three matches. This is a big boost for the club meaning he could be available for selection for this match.
