Ipswich Town will seek to rise again in the Championship when they host Cardiff City in their next game. A loss in their last game saw Ipswich drop to sixth place while Cardiff are 17th coming into this game. The hosts however recovered in midweek, beating Reading in the League Cup to advance to the third round. Ipswich needed a win on post-match penalties after a 2-2 draw at full time. Defensively, the last two matches haven't been great, the team conceding five goals in the process. The Tractor Boys weren’t very convincing in the win over Reading. That plus the capitulation against Leeds United earlier, losing 4-3, would be a concern for Kieran McKenna. The coach can however look at his team’s attacking fortunes with optimism. Ipswich have scored in all their six matches so far this season. In five of the six matches, they scored more than a goal.

Cardiff City are warming into the season after a tough start. Coming into this game, they will be buoyed by their two straight wins. In midweek they beat Birmingham City 3-1 in the League Cup. That came after their first win in the Championship, 2-1 over Sheffield United. There’s still some improvement to target though, as they have no clean sheet so far in six games this season. On a more positive note, Cardiff have scored in each of their six matches this season. In four of them, they scored more than a goal, and will take a strong attacking run to Portman Road. Understandably, Cardiff had many changes in the summer; the early struggles were expected. Erol Bulut seems to be doing a good job and will hope for a more comfortable outing here. His team needed a last minute goal to beat Sheffield Wednesday in their last league game.
