Internacional vs Flamengo Prediction & Betting Tips - Brasileirão Serie A

Following the return of Brazilian league football last weekend, the second round of matches in the Serie A campaign will see Internacional play host to Flamengo on Sunday evening. The hosts were excellent last season, finishing second behind the runaway winners Palmeiras and three points clear of closest contenders Fluminense. Over the course of the season, Internacional recorded 20 wins, 13 draws, and just five losses, scoring 58 goals and conceding 31. The hosts were unable to win their league opener last week, which finished 1-1 to Fortaleza, but did bounce back well in the Copa Libertadores in midweek, overcoming Metropolitanos 1-0 to move into second in Group B of the cup competition. The hosts are unbeaten in their last four matches in all competitions, and based on their pre-season form, they will be eyeing up a solid win in this one. 

Flamengo, meanwhile, finished in fifth place last season, accumulating a respectable 62 points, just eight short of a top-three place. The visitors ended the season with a record of 18 wins, 8 draws, and 12 losses in their 38 matches but finished the season poorly, failing to win any of their last four matches, losing three and drawing the other. Their Carioca Serie A campaign also ended poorly, losing the final two matches, which ultimately saw them end in third as opposed to first if they would have won those two matches. Unlike their opponents, Flamingo did win their first Serie A match of the season 2-0 against Cortiba last week, which puts them second in the Serie A table; however, going up against last year’s runners-up is never an easy task, and if they were to take anything from this match, the visitors will see it as a huge result to boost their 2023 early-season form.
