The Serie A title race has gone down to the final set of games. Defending champions Inter are second and home to 15th placed Sampdoria and have to win to keep their title hopes alive. They are two points behind leaders Milan who are away at Sassuolo. Inter are behind Milan in terms of head-to-head results so only if they win and Milan lose, will they retain their title. Inter have won 13 home league games and desperately want to make it 14. Only two home league games have been lost as Inter try to retain the Serie A title they won last season. With 45 goals they are the top home goal scorers in the league and they have won their last three. The goals have been flowing with at least two scored in all of their last five home league matches. They have won their last four Serie A home matches against Sampdoria, scoring 12 goals.

Sampdoria have little to play for in this game. They have had a poor second half of the season and have only 16 points from their last 15 games in Serie A. They won their last match though, getting a 4-1 home win over Fiorentina, who have now lost four of their last five league matches. Sampdoria aren't that good on their travels and have only one win in their last ten away league fixtures. That was at bottom of the table Venezia who have been relegated. Last Sunday saw them lose 2-0 at Lazio, the second time in three away league games that they have failed to score. They have secured their Serie A status though and have little to play for here. Go for Inter to win this and be ahead at both half and full time. It may not be enough to retain their title though.
