Inter Milan’s charge to the Serie A title seems unstoppable now, and they’ll be looking to make another step towards it when they host relegation threatened Cagliari. Inter have 71 points heading to the game, with an 11-point gap on second placed AC Milan while Cagliari are 18th with 22 points. Inter needs 17 points from a possible 27 in their remaining matches to win a first league title since 2010. They have the form to take them there, with only one loss in 17 matches and 10 straight wins in the league. Inter have the firepower in attack in Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez and the team has scored two or more in eight of the last 10 league matches. the two forwards were on target as the team beat Sassuolo 2-1 in the last league game, and they’ve jointly scored five goals in the last three matches now. Inter’s wins are not as emphatic now as earlier in the season but they are still doing the needed job. In their last five league matches, they’ve won by one-goal margins and going to this clash with 11 straight home wins in the league, they’ll be favorites for a 12th.

Cagliari are two points below the safety line, having played a game more, and carry to this game three straight losses and a run of four winless matches. Their situation will be made tougher by the fact first choice keeper Alessio Cragno is in isolation after testing positive for Covid-19. They are coming from a 2-0 loss to Hellas Verona and this can be a tough venue to seek recovery, especially having conceded two or more goals in each of the last four league matches. Cagliari have however been able to score in five of their last six league matches and they’ll keep on fighting here. With their ambitions, a run of two wins and 11 losses in the last 15 league matches isn’t good at all and they’ll be keen to avoid a fourth loss in five meetings with Inter.
