Inter Milan’s lead in the Italian Serie A isn’t under immediate threat, thanks to AC Milan’s struggles in recent matches. The two Milan giants are set to face off at the Giuseppe Meazza on the back of contrasting runs, with Inter playing host. Inter have so far managed 53 points while Milan have 49, in third place and having played a game more. Heading to this game, Inter are unbeaten in their last eight matches, and have won seven of them. They’ve only failed to score in one of the eight matches but six of them have ended in over 2.5 goals and they have four clean sheets. AC Milan were the last team to beat Inter at home in a league game, a 2-1 defeat in October 2020, and the Italian champions have since put up a 28-game unbeaten run in the league at home, winning 25 of those. The first meeting between these two giants this season ended in a 1-1 draw. In this game, they could miss the services of their lead scorer, Lautaro Martinez who is away with Argentina and was in action on 2nd February in the World Cup qualifiers.

AC Milan haven’t beaten Inter in the last three meetings. They have one win over Inter in their last nine meetings. Inter have clearly been the better side in Italy this season and Milan will be playing catch up here, trailing Inter by four points. A shock 2-1 loss to Spezia followed by a 0-0 draw with Juventus have left Milan at a disadvantage in the title race. They fell behind Napoli and have played a game more than Inter. They have two clean sheets in their last five matches and go to this game with a good scoring run, having failed to score in just one of their last five league matches. In three of their last five league matches though, Milan have scored three or more goals. Away from home, Milan are unbeaten in their last four league matches and it will help that they are very familiar with this venue. In their last five away league games, Milan have scored three or more goals in four.
