Inter Milan’s hopes for a treble were dashed on Wednesday as they fell 3-0 to archrivals AC Milan in the Coppa Italia. The two giants faced off in the two-legged semi-final, with AC Milan claiming a 4-1 aggregate win.
Now Inter are left with the league and Champions League to play for. Neither of those fronts promises an easy route, yet the pressure is already mounting for Nerazzurri. Simone Inzaghi’s men come into this match winless in the last three outings.
Before their loss to AC Milan, they had suffered a 1-0 loss at Bologna in the league. Once a defensively solid side, Inter have lost that touch lately. In their last 11 matches across all competitions, they managed just one clean sheet.

AS Roma are in good shape coming into this game and will have reason to imagine they can edge this. After back-to-back draws, they rose to beat Verona 1-0 last time out.

Inter Milan will know they can’t afford any more slip-ups, and Simone Inzaghi will still have a tough balancing act with the injuries and suspensions. The absence of Marcus Thuram, their leading scorer, has not only hurt the team but also denied Lautaro Martinez a strike partner.
The two have been coordinating superbly in attack and have great chemistry, which has seen them score a combined 24 goals. For now the Frenchman remains doubtful with a muscular injury.

He has faced 138 shots in his time in goal in the current campaign but produced a save percentage of 76%. No wonder Roma have opened negotiations to hand him a fresh contract.
