Inter Milan can create history with a win over tricky opponents Cagliari this weekend. The Giuseppe Meazza Stadium in Milan will play host to the Serie A matchday 32 fixture on Sunday. The hosts are at the at the top of the standings with 82 points and have a 14-point lead over AC Milan in the title race. The visitors are 13th in the standings with 30 points and are four above the bottom-three. Inter defeated Udinese 2-1 in their last match to make it their third consecutive win in the league. These came on the back of a point from two competitive matches, a run that raised doubts over their ability to finish the season strongly. A win here would make it a historic total for the Nerazzurri, as no other side in the history of the competition has achieved a points total of 85 after 32 rounds. Their league form is impressive, as they lost just once this season, back in the last week of September.

Cagliari are four points above the bottom-three and need a win to move farther from the red zone. The visitors are coming off a 2-1 win over Atalanta in their last match, which is just one defeat from their last seven league matches. Three wins in this sequence have given them momentum in the race to beat the drop. They lost the reverse fixture to Inter 2-0 back on matchday two and will hope for sweet revenge on this trip. That said, Cagliari’s away record of 1-4-10 in Serie A this season certainly does not inspire confidence ahead of a trip to the league leaders.
