After contrasting wins in the first round action to start their MLS campaign, Inter Miami and Philadelphia Union battle out in the second round on Sunday at the DRV PNK Stadium in Florida. Inter started their season with a 2-0 win over last season’s conference semi-finalist Montreal. Serhiy Kristov and Shanyder Borgelin scored in each half to give Phil Neville’s side a winning start to the campaign. After finishing sixth in the Eastern Division last season and qualifying for the playoffs, Inter couldn’t navigate further getting crashed out against New York City FC. With high hopes in the season, they would be keen to navigate through the early season and stay in the top-half places. With new addition Josef Martínez boasting an impressive record against Philadelphia, they will hope that the void created by the retirement of Gonzalo Higuain will not be felt.

Philadelphia Union started with a 4-1 win over Columbus Crew at home, and were the only team to score four goals in the first round in the conference. They went behind in the 28th minute to an own goal by Jakob Glesnes, but it was all Union from there. Two goals from the penalty spot by Daniel Gazdag and another two from open play by Julian Carranza gave them a resounding win. Jim Curtin’s side were one of the impressive sides last season where they topped the Eastern Conference and advanced to the final losing dramatically to Los Angeles FC when Gareth Bale scored a late equaliser and then LAFC won via penalties. The positive run they had in the friendlies prior to the season is showing off as Union look to continue their good start on this trip.
