The K-League kicks off this weekend sure in the knowledge that it will be taking a large number of new fans along for the ride. Cases of Covid-19 are dropping in South Korea, encouraging those in charge to allow the season to begin. While matches will initially be played behind closed doors, it is expected that fans will gradually be allowed to attend throughout the campaign. Incheon United start the campaign with a home fixture against Daegu. Incheon, who are nicknamed the Mariners, are coming off their worst league finish in three seasons. They narrowly avoided relegation by a point last season, finishing tenth in the twelve-team top flight. In a bid to improve results for the coming campaign, they appointed Lim Wan-Sup as their new head coach. Wan-Sup is coming off the back of a promising first foray into management, guiding second-division Ansan Greeners to a fifth-place finish last season. 

Their opponents, Daegu, also have a new manager in charge. Brazilian coach Andre worked wonders at the club, helping them to win their first major honour and qualify for the Champions League. However, a falling out with the board led to him leaving and former South Korea international Lee Byung-keun being appointed in his place. Daegu finished fifth in the table last season thanks to the brilliant strike partnership of Brazilian duo Cesinha and Edgar. The former scored 15 goals and created a further ten. How the departure of their compatriot from the dugout will affect their performances remains to be seen. Given their strong record against Incheon in recent seasons, we see Daegu coming out on top.
