Finnish side Ilves will host their Danish counterparts Djurgarden in the third qualifying round of the Conference League this Thursday. As the two Scandinavian opponents clash in the first leg, here’s our preview and prediction for the match.

At the end of a 5-5 aggregate draw, Ilves prevailed against Austria Vienna in the last round. They won 2-1 in the home leg and lost 4-3 away but emerged tops from the post-match penalties. In their most recent outing, they beat 10-man Oulu 1-0 away from home in the Finnish league.

That result left the hosts with just a loss in the last four matches, and builds their confidence as they prepare for this game. The one key stat going into this encounter has to be Ilves’ form in attack. The hosts scored in each of their last 18 matches but in the last nine they managed just two clean sheets.

Djurgarden are heading into this game on the back of a two-match winless run and will be looking to bounce back. Despite losing their return leg match in the last round, Djurgarden still secured passage to this stage.

After a 3-0 first leg home win against Niederkorn, they lost 1-0 away. That result was followed on by a 1-1 draw at home to IFK Goteborg in domestic action. Like Ilves, Djurgarden haven't managed a lot of clean sheets in recent matches.
