Iceland will be seeking their third Group J win of the Euro 2024 qualifiers when they host Luxembourg. The two nations are four points apart, with Iceland fifth on six points and Luxembourg third with 10 points. A late goal from Alfredh Finnbogason enabled Iceland beat Bosnia-Herzegovina 1-0 in their last outing. That victory saw them end a three-match run without a win and was also their first clean sheet in four matches. Three of their five matches in this group have produced over 2.5 goals. While they haven't been on a great run, Iceland only failed to score in one of their five matches in this group. With the win in the last game, mathematically, they have a chance of finishing in the top two. Their Euro qualification record has five defeats in the last seven outings. This match presents Iceland with the chance to register a second win in nine matches at home. The win over Bosnia was their first in eight.

Luxembourg will go into this game in search of a second straight win over Iceland. They won 3-1 in the initial meeting in this group. Iceland finished with 10 players in that game played in September. That result made it two games undefeated against Iceland and they'll be targeting the same here. Luxembourg have the chance to draw level on points with Slovakia with a win, as their rivals travel to group leaders Portugal. They host Slovakia on October 16 so could end this set of Euro qualifiers in the top two or see their hopes dashed.  Their three-match winning run was brutally ended in their last outing, a 9-0 loss to Portugal. This will be Luxembourg's second straight away game and they'll aim to do better than in their game against Portugal. With just one loss in six away matches, Luxembourg will be confident of sealing a double over Iceland. In the said six away matches, they've managed three wins.
