Hungary vs Iceland Prediction & Betting Tips - Euro
by Daniel Ngulu | in Euro Predictions
The journey towards Euro 2021 is coming to an end and among the teams contesting for the four remaining slots are Hungary and Iceland, after winning their semi final ties. Hungary will host this game at the Puskas Arena in Budapest as the nations look to join a tough group that has Portugal, France and Germany. To get here, Hungary claimed a comfortable 3-1 win in Bulgaria in the semis while Iceland, playing at home, saw off Romania 2-1. Hungary have really stepped since that win over Bulgaria, and in the two matches that have followed, they haven’t conceded a goal. Meanwhile, they have claimed real morale-boosting results – beating Serbia 1-0 and drawing 0-0 with Russia, both games having been played away. As they get to play at home again, they will be looking to carry on with that form. However, three losses in four home matches is not the form they will be looking at for hope, and having conceded at least two goals in each of the three losses will call for more caution. They have six losses and four clean sheets in their last 12 home matches but they have a better run at home in Euro qualification matches. Hungary have one loss, six wins and five clean sheets in their last nine home games in Euro qualifiers. They have scored in each of the last six at home, though not more than a goal in the last three.
Iceland was on the brink of getting their first win over Hungary in six matches when they met at the Euro 2016 finals. However, after Gylfi Sigurdsson’s opener in the 39th minute, a Birkir Saevarsson own goal in the 88th minute meant the two shared spoils. The last time Iceland beat Hungary was in a Euro qualifier back in 1995. They have lost five of the last six matches against Hungary and here they are in a must win situation, if they want to make it to the finals again. Iceland do not have a very good run going to this game; they have one win in the last five matches – the win over Romania in the playoff semi finals. They have no clean sheet in their last five matches and have straight losses in the two matches ahead of this clash. Each of their last four games has produced over 2.5 goals and they have conceded two or more in three of their last four matches. In 15 away matches, Iceland have registered just two wins and kept two clean sheets in the process. They have conceded two or more goals in seven of their last 10 away matches but they have also scored in seven of the 10. In the last 10 away matches, they have scored at least two goals in six.

Our Hungary vs Iceland Prediction
Iceland have not had a very good return in away matches; over the last 15, they have just two wins and two clean sheets. Here they get to take on a Hungary side that has done well at home in recent matches, with six wins in nine Euro qualifiers at home. Iceland are also on four losses in their last five matches, though they have played much stronger opponents during that period. Perhaps the biggest positive they take here is their scoring ability and will be hoping it comes to play here. Hungary are not the best in defence, and we can bet Iceland will hit the back of the net. Still we feel Hungary will carry the day.
