Hull vs West Brom Prediction & Betting Tips - Championship
by Kennedy Kechula | in Championship Predictions
Hull City will host West Bromwich Albion on Friday at their MKM Stadium. The home side are in 16th place with 42 points while West Brom are 11th with 48 points. Liam Rosenior’s men look once again set to finish in the bottom half, and come into this round in unconvincing form having not won in their last four matches. The Tigers were beaten 1-0 away by Bristol City last time out. It was the third time in this four-game stretch that they failed to score, with their only goal coming in the 3-1 loss to Norwich three matchdays ago. Three of those four matches have come on the road and Hull will be glad that they are returning to play on home ground, where they have not lost since December. Half of Hull’s 14 losses have been inflicted at the MKM but since Rosenior took over in November, they have had their fortunes improve and at home have proven to be difficult to beat, even though they have struggled to see out teams themselves. Hull are unbeaten at home in their last six matches with two wins and four draws. They drew 0-0 with Preston North End last time out which was the only time in those six matches that they had failed to find the back of the net. Hull have kept three successive clean sheets and have not let in more than one goal a game. They will hope that this newfound defensive solidity inspires them to end a run of six successive defeats to West Brom.
West Bromwich Albion have also blown hot and cold in recent weeks and this has resulted in them falling to six points adrift of the promotion playoff places. Carlos Corberan’s men beat promotion-chasing Middlesbrough 2-0 last time out to end a three-game run without a win (two losses and a draw) and will want to create a winning run of their own and avoid falling much further behind in the playoff race. A ten-minute blitz condemned Middlesbrough with Daryl Dike scoring both goals inside the opening 10 minutes. It was their fourth clean sheet this year in 11 matches played across all competitions and whenever they have kept a clean sheet, they have gone ahead to win the game. However, their recent away form in the league leaves plenty to be desired as they have lost their last three on the road. They have conceded at least two goals a game in that run and have managed three goals with two coming in the 3-2 loss to Watford. The Baggies have been dominant against Hull but if they are to stretch this record then they have to shore up on defence.
