A crucial bottom-half battle in the Championship will play out this weekend when Huddersfield Town host Plymouth Argyle on Saturday. The hosts are currently in 21st place in the league standings, while the visitors are 18th. After spending all of last season in the lower table, Huddersfield looks set to fight the drop again this term. They have managed just 25 points from 26 matches this season and are just three points above Sheffield Wednesday, who are the first side below the dotted line. Due to their goal differential of -18, The Terriers will find themselves in the drop zone if they lose this match and Wednesday win theirs. Huddersfield will come into this match following a 5-0 thrashing at the hands of Manchester City in the FA Cup last week. That result marked their third consecutive loss in all competitions, but more importantly, would have had a huge knock on their confidence. Yet, despite their poor form in the lead-up to this match, the bookmakers have the hosts down as the favourites.

Meanwhile, Plymouth have fared well upon their return to the Championship. They have earned 29 points so far this season, leaving them seven clear of the drop. In addition, the mid-table in the league is very tight at present, and three points from this match could propel Plymouth as high as 15th, provided other results go in their favor. The Pilgrims had an easier draw in the FA Cup last week and booked their spot in the next round with a 3-1 win over lower-division outfit Sutton United. With that outcome, the visitors have now scored two or more goals in five of their last six matches in all competitions. However, Plymouth’s away form has been very poor this season. In 13 league matches on the road,  they are still awaiting their first victory and have managed just four points over that period. Still, they will have confidence heading into this fixture, having won the reverse match 3-1 back in August.
