USA are in third place in this group and after losing 2-0 to chief qualification rivals Costa Rica they are six points adrift of the final automatic qualification place and with an inferior goal difference. Finishing third gets you into a play-off with an Asian qualifier, possibly Australia or Syria. Third place isn't even safe though as Honduras are only behind them on goal difference. USA have struggled away from home in this group losing to Costa Rica with the other two games drawn. Honduras are fourth in the table but have USA and group winners Japan to play at home and Costa Rica away. They have had a mixed bag of results at home with a win over bottom of the table Trinidad and Tobago, a draw with Costa Rica and defeat by Panama who are fifth in the group but could climb to third with a win over Trinidad and Tobago and a draw in this match. It's all tense stuff but USA beat Honduras 6-0 at home in the reverse fixture and that must be in the head of their opponents. Go for a USA win in this game.
