Holstein Kiel vs Bayern Munich Prediction & Betting Tips - Bundesliga

It is a tough-looking task this weekend for bottom-of-the-league Holstein Kiel as they host second-place Bayern Munich. There is a serious level of disparity in the squads of these two clubs which needs to be considered when making our prediction.

This is Holstein Kiel's first season in the top flight, finishing second in 2. Bundesliga last season. Their away form was far superior to their home. 9-2-6 at home against 12-3-2 away, conceding just 13 on their travels but double that at the Holstein-Stadion. Theirs is the northernmost stadium in the Bundesliga so they will need to improve on that record to have any hope of surviving.

The home side were not disgraced at home to Hoffenheim in their opening game of the campaign, losing 2-3 there. They failed to score at home to Wolfsburg, 0-2 behind within half an hour but they did at least stop the flow of goals at that point.

That is a formline into their visitors on Saturday as Munich went to Wolfsburg for their opening game of the season, winning 3-2. Freiburg were their victims in their second game of the season, a 2-0 win for Munich, Harry Kane and Thomas Müller with the goals.

Munich will be anxious that they get back on the right path this season. An 11-year run as champions of Germany came to an end last season when they could only finish third. Worse still, they were a massive 18 points off the winners, Leverkusen.

These two teams have only ever met once, a German Cup game in 2021. Kiel came from behind with an injury-time equaliser, taking the game to penalties where they won 6-5. They will need to tap back into that sort of magic to take anything out of this contest.
