Hoffenheim vs Manchester City Prediction & Betting Tips - Champions League

Manchester City beat Brighton and Hove Albion at home on Saturday and with Chelsea and Liverpool fighting out a draw, it meant they went top of the Premier League on goal difference. Now they return to the Champions League and there's work to be done after losing their opening game 2-1 at home to Lyon. Their next two games in the group are away at Hoffenheim and then the return game at Lyon and they need some points to avoid the threat of not making it through to the knock-out stages.  They aren't always that dominant on their travels in the Champions League and their last six games have produced three wins and three defeats. 

Hoffenheim managed a 2-2 draw in their opening game at Shakhtar Donetsk (who beat City at home in the Champions League last season) but it could have been a better night for them as they led twice in that game. They are 10th in the Bundesliga having lost three of their opening six league games. The last two home league games have produced just one point. Hoffenheim have already conceded 10 league goals and have only played three games in the Champions League conceding at least twice in all of them. Last season saw them knocked out in the play-off round by Liverpool and conceded 48 league goals last season, the same number as Wolfsburg who finished in the bottom three,  Only Bayern Munich had a better home league record than Hoffenheim last season but the number of goals they concede is a worry hence the tip for Manchester City to get their Champions League campaign back on track with an away win particularly with Hoffenheim on a run of one win in five at present.
