The quarter-final of the Vietnamese Cup sees top division side Hoang Anh Gia Lai hosting V-League second division club PVF-CAND. The winner of this fixture will earn a spot in the semi-final to take on Thanh Hoa who recently disposed of TTBD Phu Dong on Monday. Gia Lai finished the regular season in the V-League 1 in 10th-place, meaning they will take part in the relegation playoff along with five other teams. PVF-CAND are on a strong run of form as the quarter-final win extends their unbeaten run to three matches with two of them resulting in victories. Overall, they’ve lost just once in their last five fixtures across all competitions. Away from home PVF-CAND have won three of their six trips in the league and cup combined. However, they have only one victory in their last four away matches. They come into this fixture having scored in three straight and having kept a clean sheet in two of their last three.
