Guinea - Gambia: Form Analysis
Guinea are coming from a 1-1 draw with continental giants Cameroon and hope to improve on that here. In the contest against Cameroon, Kaba Diawara’s men took the lead early but could not see it out as the five-time champions pegged them back early in the second half. Guinea even had to finish the game with 10 men and missing some key players just about showed their fighting ability. That Match Day 1 performance should be enough to inspire the Syli Nationale’s confidence coming into this clash. Having lost just once in seven matches further strengthens Guinea’s placing as favorites here. They will however be looking to improve on the run of three wins in their last seven matches. Their 1-0 loss to Botswana remains the only time in 12 matches that they failed to score. Defensively, Diawara will hope to see some improvement, his team having managed just a clean sheet in the last five matches. Meanwhile, both teams scored in seven of Guinea’s last 10 matches.
After their flight ordeal heading to the AFCON competition, Gambia didn’t have a great start. They were thrashed 3-0 by cup holders Senegal and will be eyeing a better showing here. This is only Gambia’s second AFCON appearance but they get to face Guinea for a second time. In the 2022 edition, Gambia won 1-0 in an ill-tempered clash that had a player sent off for both sides. Like Guinea in their opening game here, Gambia also had a man sent off, making their mission against Senegal virtually impossible. That loss to the champions was Gambia’s third in a row and they have conceded at least twice in five straight games. In their last two matches, Gambia failed to score, a highlight of the poor run they carry to this game. They also failed to score in their last two AFCON matches but being against Cameroon and Senegal, that is understandable.

Guinea & Gambia Squad Analysis
Both Guinea and Gambia had a player sent off in the first half of their Match Day 1 encounters. Guinea will be without Francois Kamano for this game following his 45th minute red card against Cameroon. This will be a big blow for coach Kaba Diawara as he has other key men out with injury. In-form Serhou Guirassy will remain out with a thigh injury, as will former Liverpool man Naby Keita. Both players missed the opening encounter and it is now a race against time to have them on Match Day 3. The coach will be crossing fingers to not lose another player here. Meanwhile, Gambia, led by Tom Saintfiet will be without midfielder Ebou Adams who was sent off on Match Day 1. A key man to watch for Gambia will be Newcastle United’s Yankuba Minteh. The 19-year-old winger started in the last game and should be good to go again here.

Our Guinea vs Gambia Prediction
Guinea will come into this game as favorites and in their scoring run, we expect them to collect three points here. However, they will still have jitters with their defensive record, an area that Gambia will be keen to exploit. Our prediction for Guinea v Gambia is for both teams to score.
Guinea vs Gambia - Other Interesting Predictions
Under 2.5 goals
These two sides have a history of low scoring affairs at the AFCON finals. Gambia haven't scored in their last two AFCON matches, and only one of five has had over 2.5 goals. Basically, Gambia have never scored more than a goal in an AFCON match, having played six times at that level. With Guinea it is a similar case; in their last six AFCON matches, they haven't managed more than a goal a game. Meanwhile, four of their last five AFCON matches ended in under 2.5 goals. Away from AFCON, only one of Guinea’s last six matches had over 2.5 goals. It is on this backdrop that we expect another low scoring affair here, and we will go for under 2.5 goals as our second bet.
