A battle between two unbeaten teams will take place on Monday in the Gold Cup when Guatemala take on Jamaica. The winner of this quarterfinal tie will play either Mexico or Costa Rica in the semifinals. Guatemala won seven points in three matches and finished top in Group D, two points ahead of co-hosts Canada. Luis Tena’s men defeated Guadeloupe 3-2 in their final group match to secure qualification. They had to come from behind twice to win. Despite conceding for the first time in the competition in the match, Guatemala recorded a positive on the offensive end. La Azul y Blanco had gone six matches without scoring more than one goal a match before facing Guadeloupe. They will now seek to keep this attacking threat and shore up defensively again. Guatemala have been on the receiving end more times in this fixture with Jamaica. They have lost 10 times but they did win the last time they met back in 2012.

Jamaica will hope to add to their 10 victories against Guatemala with this latest fixture. They also went unbeaten in the group stages but finished second in Group A. Heimir Hallgrimsson’s charges finished tied on seven points with defending champions USA with goal difference dropping them to second. The Reggae Boys have been one of the more potent sides in the competition and have scored 10 goals thus far. Nine of their goals have come in their last two matches and in their last outing, they thumped St. Kitts and Nevis 5-0. Jamaica have for the sixth time in a row qualified for the Gold Cup knockout rounds. And with how they have played, they will be confident of making the final for the third time in five editions.
