Gremio come to this match after a 1-0 win away to Cruzeiro in the Brazilian Cup. The win extended their unbeaten run to five with the last three fixtures ending in victory. Back in the Serie A after one season in the second tier, Renato Gaucho’s men have performed admirably. They sit in the qualifying places for the Copa Libertadores and trail leaders Botafogo by seven points. The last time they played against Sao Paulo, they won 3-0 and will seek to pick up from where they left.
