Granada have no win in their last four La Liga matches and will be looking to end the bad run when they host high flying Atletico Madrid. Ahead of this game, 21 points stand between the two sides. Granada have 30 points, in eighth place and Atletico have 51 points, at the top of the league. The hosts are coming from a 2-2 draw with Levante in their last match, leaving them five points below the Europa League slots. They had to come from behind twice in that game, with the second goal coming in the 90th minute. It was not a result Granada loved but were happy to keep one point and they now have just two wins in the last seven matches. Both wins in the said seven matches were against teams in lower leagues and they have conceded two or more goals in three of the last five matches. The five matches have only offered two clean sheets, with over 2.5 goals in three. Granada have managed just one win in the last seven La Liga matches. For a team chasing at least a Europa League place, this isn’t a very encouraging run. Further, they are the joint lowest scorers among the top 12 sides, with 26 goals. Granada also hold the second-poorest defence in the league, having conceded 36 goals.

Atletico have had a good run but will also not be happy to have conceded in the 89th minute in their last game, drawing 2-2 with Celta Vigo. They however remain five points ahead of second placed Real Madrid, with two games in hand. Atletico hold the best defence in the league, but have no clean sheet in their last four matches – they have conceded six in the four games. Their shortcomings in defence have been well covered by Luis Suarez’s fine scoring form, the Uruguayan netting seven goals in the last four matches. The team remains unbeaten in nine league matches, with eight wins in the run. They have scored at least two goals in the last six league matches while away from home they have four straight wins.
