Granada look to continue their fine start to the new season when they host Alaves at the Estadio Nuevo Los Carmenes in La Liga action on Sunday. The home side won their domestic opener 2-0 at home to Athletic Bilbao, putting them second after matchday one. They followed this up with a 4-0 away win in the Europa League against Albanian minnows Teuta Durres. Alaves had a comparatively poor start to their league campaign, losing 1-0 at home to Real Betis. The only goal of the game came in stoppage-time, Cristian Tello taking advantage of sleepy defending. Alaves actually beat Real Betis in their last away match in La Liga, a result that papered over the cracks of dismal form on the road. Only two teams had worse away records than a side that had lost six and won none of their eight away matches prior to that Betis win. Alaves have visited Granada twice and lost on both occasions; they enter this match on the back of three successive defeats to their Andalusian opponents. What's more, Alaves failed to score on their last two meetings with Granada, who have kept clean sheets in their three competitive matches prior to this game.

Granada had a strong home record in La Liga last season with only five teams outdoing them in terms of home form. They closed last season and opened the new one with victories over Bilbao. Before that closing victory over Bilbao, they failed to win four home games; this coming after a run in which they won four of their previous five home games.
