Title-chasing Fenerbahce will this Sunday travel away to face Giresunspor, seeking to close in on league leaders Galatasaray, who are three points ahead of them in the Turkish Super Lig. Fenerbahce come into this round in second place while Giresunspor are on the opposite end of the table in 16th looking to claw themselves from relegation. Giresunspor are in danger of demotion and come to this match having amassed 27 points which is five points away from safety. They have won only one of their last six matches and were beaten 1-0 away to Istanbulspor in their last game. The hosts have now lost three matches on the trot. With four matches left to play, Irfan Buz’s men cannot afford to drop any more points if they are to keep their top-flight status for a third successive season.

Fenerbahce have boosted their title hopes after the league season in Turkey resumed in March. They have won four of their six matches and now trail Galatasaray by three points. The visitors have racked up 67 points thanks to 21 wins and four draws, and if they win on Sunday by four clear goals, will move into top spot, at least for 24 hours before Galatasaray play on Monday. Jorge Jesus’ men are also through to the semifinals of the Turkish Cup where they are battling with Sivasspor and drew 0-0 in the first leg in midweek. Fenerbahce will be confident of success this weekend but will be wary with Giresunspor having won the reverse fixture to halt their winning run against them.
