Ghana hosts Zimbabwe in Group G of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers from the Africa region this Saturday at the Cape Coast, hoping to recover from the 1-0 loss to South Africa earlier. Going to this game, Ghana are placed second with three points, two ahead of bottom placed Zimbabwe. Ghana have a new man in charge, Serbian coach Milovan Rajevac, coming in for a second stint after his 2010 highs that saw the team reach advanced stages of the World Cup and AFCON that year. It hasn’t been smooth for the African giants but here they will have an almost fully fit squad and key players, including Thomas Partey are back. Ghana have been poor in attack and as a result, most of their recent games have produced under 2.5 goals. They’ve failed to score in three of their last four matches and each of the four has produced under 2.5 goals. In World Cup qualifiers, their last four matches have produced under 2.5 goals, and at home, they are unbeaten in 23 World Cup qualification games. The last five World Cup qualification matches at home have all seen under 2.5 goals scored.

Zimbabwe have a very poor run going to this game; they’ve won just once in the last 14 matches, and lost eight. Their last game in this group ended in a 1-0 loss to Ethiopia and they’ll hope this double header with Ghana yields six points. Their only point so far has come from a draw with South Africa and seven of their last 10 matches have produced under 2.5 goals. Zimbabwe have failed to score in six of the last 10 matches and conceded two or more in five of the 10. Away from home, they have three straight losses and their only win in the last 14 World Cup qualification matches was against Somalia. They have failed to score in nine of the 14 and they come here with four straight away losses in World Cup qualification. In the last 11 away matches in World Cup qualifiers, they have no win, just eight losses.
