Ghana vs Sudan Prediction & Betting Tips - AFCON
by Daniel Ngulu | in Football Predictions
Ghana have a perfect record in the 2021 AFCON qualifiers and will be hoping to extend it when they get to host Sudan on Match Day 3 in Group C. Three points separate the two nations, with Sudan having won one and lost one. Ghana beat South Africa 2-0 at home in their opening game before traveling away to Sao Tome and Principe, where they won 1-0. The African giants are regulars at AFCON finals and will be hoping to make this another successful journey. They have won each of their last four qualification matches and have just one loss in the last 13. As they get to play at home again, they will be gunning for their 14th straight unbeaten home game in AFCON qualifiers. They have three straight clean sheets in AFCON qualification matches at home and have failed to score in just one of their 13 home matches in the qualifiers, which was against Sudan in 2010. In nine of the 13 home matches in the qualifiers, Ghana have scored two goals or more. They spanked Qatar 5-1 in their warm up game ahead of this clash and will be hoping to carry that form here.
Sudan on the other hand, are coming to this game right after a 1-1 draw with Togo in a friendly in October. That came after a 3-0 loss to Tunisia in another friendly match and they will be hoping to do better here. With just one win in their last seven matches, and heading to a tough away game, the East African side will be outright underdogs. Their only win in that period was against minnows Eritrea in a friendly match. This also remains their only away win in the last five but the biggest concern will be that they rarely win in AFCON qualification matches. In the last 11 AFCON qualification matches, Sudan have managed two wins and lost eight. It is even worse away from home, with the team having lost nine of their last 10. Their only away win in the last 10 AFCON qualification matches away from home, came against Madagascar in 2018. The 3-1 win in Madagascar is the only time they have scored in their last six away matches in the qualifiers. They have no clean sheet in 10 away AFCON qualification matches, and have conceded two or more in five of them. Their last trip to Ghana for an AFCON qualifier was in 2010, and they managed a 0-0 draw. They will be very grateful if they can pull a similar result against the current Ghana side.

Our Ghana vs Sudan Prediction
Ghana and Sudan have had contrasting runs in the qualifiers ahead of this clash. Ghana have a perfect record and have not even conceded a goal so far. They are also good at home in these qualifiers and are regulars at the AFCON finals. Here they get to face a Sudan side with a poor run in the qualifiers and an even poorer one away from home. While Ghana have scored two or more in nine of their last 13 AFCON qualification matches at home, Sudan have conceded two or more in half of their last 10 away. Each of Ghana’s last four AFCON qualification matches has produced a clean sheet and in the form they carry here, we are predicting the same for this game. A 2-0 win for Ghana seems very likely.
