Ghana vs Nigeria Prediction & Betting Tips - World Cup
by Daniel Ngulu | in World Cup Predictions
West African giants Ghana and Nigeria will be facing off in the final round of qualifiers to the 2022 World Cup with Ghana hosting this opening leg. These two nations had poor showings at the 2021 AFCON recently and will be looking to save face. Hosts Ghana suffered first round elimination in the tournament and going into this game they will know it is a clash they can’t afford to lose. Ghana will be without their skipper Andre Ayew who is suspended but most of the other senior players are available. The Ghanaians have failed to win any of their last four matches, losing three; they’ve failed to score in two of these four matches and twice in that run they have conceded three goals. In five matches, they have one clean sheet. They are however unbeaten in their last four World Cup qualification matches, though in the last five in these qualifiers, they’ve managed more than a goal in just one. In the last 25 home matches in World Cup qualification, Ghana are unbeaten; they go into this one with three straight home wins and six of the last seven have produced under 2.5 goals.
Nigeria had a better showing at the AFCON 2021 but their journey was cut short by Tunisia, just when they had emerged as favourites to win the competition. They too will miss a key player in Alex Iwobi who is suspended but they have enough to replace him. Nigeria have three wins in the last five matches and will be eyeing an away advantage here. Going into this game, three of their last five matches have produced under 2.5 goals but they have two clean sheets in the five and twice in that run they’ve managed more than a goal. They’ve failed to score just once. In World Cup qualification, they are unbeaten in the last three matches, but none of those teams that faced is as strong as Ghana. Away from home, they are unbeaten in 26 World Cup qualification games. In the last 10 away matches in these qualifiers, both teams have scored in six and only three produced over 2.5 goals.

Our Ghana vs Nigeria Prediction
These two giants meet in a game each will want to win. A feisty encounter is expected especially with the two sides trying to rise past their dismal runs in the AFCON competition in January. Ghana have a good home run in World Cup qualification, and Nigeria have a good one as well away from home. They both haven’t been scoring a lot though and we expect the same here so back this to end in under 2.5 goals.
