As they host Central African Republic in Group E, Ghana need just a draw to secure their AFCON 2023 slot. Ghana leads this group with nine points, two ahead of third placed CAR. This is one of the tight groups in the qualifiers and could see any of the leading three qualify. A win will see Ghana finish top but a draw will be enough to guarantee them a place in the competition. Drawing three of their five matches in this group shows just how tough it has been for the Black Stars. They are unbeaten in the last three matches but with two straight draws. Ghana have however posted three clean sheets in their last five matches. Unbeaten in seven AFCON qualification matches, Ghana are expected to see this through. They have won each of their last seven home matches in AFCON qualifiers and are unbeaten in 17.

CAR had to come from down to draw 1-1 with Ghana in their first leg meeting in Luanda. They must do better here if they intend to be part of the 2023 AFCON. In their last outing, CAR lost 2-1 to Angola in a game that saw Dominique Youfeigane sent off in the 70th minute. They would then concede a late goal that condemned them to defeat while playing as the home team. CAR have suffered two losses in their last four matches while their away record isn’t great, with seven losses in 10. They did beat Madagascar 3-0 in their last away match though. Their two wins in this group have both come from beating Madagascar. They have one win and nine losses in 13 away AFCON qualification matches.
