Germany will be making another stab at the UEFA Nations League when they host Ukraine on Saturday in Group 4 of League A. The hosts are second in the group with six points, tying with third placed Ukraine and only separated by goal difference. The UEFA Nations League has proven to be a tough hunting ground for Germany and will be hoping to make it better this time. The former world champions have managed just one win in the eight matches they have played in this competition. Five times they have drawn and lost twice, while they have drawn in each of their four home matches in the competition. Their last outing was particularly a big fight for one point; they had to rally from behind twice to win a point off a 3-3 draw with Switzerland. Without a clean sheet in their last seven Nations League matches, Germany will know some fixing in their defence is a priority. They have had very few problems in attack, scoring in each of the last six and coming from a 1-0 win over Czech Republic in a friendly match, they will want to replicate the same against Ukraine. Germany are unbeaten in their last 12 matches but in recent times they haven’t won a lot – they have drawn four of their last six games. Each of their last three away matches has ended in a loss and they have conceded two or more goals. They have conceded 15 goals in the last four away matches and scored three. A run of three losses in their last five Nations League matches doesn’t leave them in very good standing going to this game.
