Germany vs Switzerland Prediction & Betting Tips - UEFA Nations League
by Daniel Ngulu | in UEFA Nations League Predictions
Germany will host Switzerland on Match Day 4 of the UEFA Nations League in Group 4 of League A this Tuesday in Cologne. Ahead of the game, Germany are second in the group on five points, two below leaders Spain. On the other hand, Switzerland are bottom, with just one point from their opening three matches. Former world champions Germany have not had it going their way in the Nations League; in their seven matches in the competition, they have just one win. They won no game in the inaugural edition and only managed to hold on in their most recent match in the competition, winning 2-1 away to Ukraine. They had a fair share of uncomfortable moments out in Ukraine and will be hoping to do better when they get back to playing at home. Germany had registered three straight draws ahead of their win in Ukraine and after ending that run, they will be keen on tightening at the back after conceding in five straight matches. Heading to this match, Germany are unbeaten in nine matches, five of them wins, and they have scored in each of their last 17 matches. In their last 16 matches, they have only lost once – to Netherlands back in September 2019. That defeat is also their only home loss in the last 12 matches, and they go to this game unbeaten in five though just one of the five matches has produced a clean sheet for the Germans. In the seven Nations League matches they have played since the inaugural competition, Germany have one clean sheet, which came in their very first Nations League game – a 0-0 draw with France. Thrice in their last six Nations League matches, Germany have conceded at least twice while in the last three games in the competition, they have conceded once in each game. In their first meeting in this group, these nations drew 1-1 in Switzerland and the result, for the Swiss, made it two matches unbeaten against Germany but in the total 12 meetings, Switzerland have just two wins, the first which came way back in the 1938 World Cup.
Switzerland will be keen on punching more holes on the already leaky German defence as they also seek to rise from their current lows. The Swiss go to this game having lost 1-0 to Spain at home, a result that has left them winless in four straight games. The point earned in this group came from the 1-1 draw with Germany as the Swiss struggle to replicate the form that saw them reach the Nations League semi finals in the previous campaign. Twice in their last four matches they have conceded two goals and have no clean sheet in their last five matches, which will concern them ahead of the Germany clash. In their last 10 matches, the Swiss have failed to score in just two games, but with just three clean sheets in the process, they will have to watch their backs in Cologne. Away from home, Switzerland have not managed to pull the best results in recent times; they head here with two straight away losses and four in the last six. Switzerland have managed just one win in their last six away matches, they have no clean sheet in the process but have failed to score in just two of their last nine away matches. In the Nations League, Switzerland were one of the best performers in the last campaign. They registered a massive 5-2 win over Belgium in their last group game to advance to the knockout stages but that has remained their last win. The five matches that have come after that have ended in three losses and two draws. In their last eight Nations League matches, they have one clean sheet and have lost each of the last three away games in the competition.

Our Germany vs Switzerland Prediction
Switzerland have not had a very good run in recent times; the shine they had in the 2018 Nations League is also long gone and the loss to Spain left them in a very bad place in this group. The team that finished top of the group to advance to the semis last time, needs a big miracle to get to the semis this time. Anything but a win in Germany leaves them out of contention. Their situation is further complicated by the lack of clean sheets in their recent matches and meeting a recovering Germany leaves them as underdogs here. Germany won their first ever Nations League game and also ended a bad run of draws in their last game but will also have concerns at the lack of clean sheets. A bet on both teams to score here can do, and on the correct score scale, we will go with a 2-1 win for the Germans.
