Germany top World Cup qualifying Group H by five points. They look to edge even further towards making it to Qatar next year with a home win over third placed Romania who are six points behind Germany. Armenia are in second place and the Romanians are only a point behind them. The Armenians are away at Iceland on Friday and then it's the crunch match in Romania next week. Romania need to finish second to get into the play-offs. They are unbeaten in their last three games and kept clean sheets in all of them. However, they did lose 1-0 at home to Germany and haven't got the best of away records in World Cup qualifiers. They have only won one of their last seven, a victory in Iceland.

It wasn't an impressive Euro 2020 for Germany. They nearly didn't make it into the knock-out stages and were then beaten by England in the last 16. Since then, they've played three games and won them all with a 12-0 aggregate score. Germany have won five of their six group games, the other a shock loss to North Macedonia in March. The loss to England is the only one they have suffered in their last six matches. That defeat by North Macedonia is the only one in the last 39 home World Cup qualifiers. Their last home game against Romania was in 2007 and that was won 3-1. Back them to win this match and be ahead at both half and full time.
