Germany vs Hungary Prediction & Betting Tips - Euro
by Nella Wagah | in Euro Predictions
Hungary and Germany face off in a big Euro 2020 match in Group F in Munich, with one of the two nations set to miss out on a last 16 slot. Germany have three points after their 4-2 win over holders Portugal while Hungary have one point, off their draw with France in their second game. This group, termed the Group of Death, has lived to that billing and only France are yet to taste defeat. Germany recovered from their opening day loss to France with a come-from-behind win over Portugal and will be confident of dispatching a tough Hungary side. Germany need to avoid defeat against Hungary to keep their hopes alive. A draw could play out well but a win is a guarantee. They had to endure shaky moments against a resurgent Portugal towards the end of their second match but very little fault can be picked from their opening performance against the holders. Four goals against Portugal was a big statement from the Germans but conceding two goals meant they are still struggling on that front. In their last five matches now, Germany have no clean sheet but they’ve failed to score in just one game.
Hungary and Germany haven’t met competitively since the 1954 World Cup and as they get to face off here, Hungary have a point to prove, much as they also need a win to advance from this group. Regarded the whipping boys of this group, Hungary proved otherwise in the game against France, defending in numbers and threatening in attack. They did crumble late against Portugal, losing 3-0 but they can’t be written off even as they travel to Germany for this clash. Hungary have all to play for in this game; they will try to win and should set out for just that. It will be interesting to see how they handle this game but with four members of their team playing for German clubs, this stage should not be too frightening. One of the players will miss this game though – skipper Adam Szalai, who suffered a concussion against France. Hungary are winless in their last three matches, and the three wins they’ve managed in the last seven have all been against much inferior opponents. They have failed to score in two of their last three matches and this too will be a major concern, but a six-match unbeaten run away from home will just about offer the needed motivation.

Our Germany vs Hungary Prediction
Hungary will not enjoy the 60,000 strong home support that saw them get close to beating France. The atmosphere will be different in Germany and facing a side coming from a well-crafted win over Portugal will not be a walk in the park. The need to restore fan confidence will push Germany to go for a win here, though a draw could work for them. They are rejuvenated after their opening loss to France, and should be able to take advantage of Hungary’s need to go forward and get goals. With the effort we expect Hungary to put in attack, a goal for them can’t be ruled out, especially as Germany haven’t kept a lot of clean sheets lately. Go for both teams to score here.
