Germany vs France Prediction & Betting Tips - UEFA Nations League
by Steve Ashfield | in UEFA Nations League Predictions
2018 has been a bit of a disastrous year for Germany and they could never have imagined they'd start this European Nations League game ranked only 15th in the world. The Germans were struggling to find their best form in the lead up to defending their world title but it only got worse for them in Russia. Losing to Mexico was bad enough, getting a last minute goal to beat Sweden was a great escape but then they lost to South Korea and were knocked out of the tournament in the group stages. Sane was controversially left out of their World Cup squad and he's back for this game but hasn't had a good start to the season with Manchester City. Home form has seen Germany only win one of their last four and that includes a 2-2 draw with France last November in which they twice had to come from behind.
France play their first game since winning the World Cup and would love to also win the European Nations League. The other team in this League A group is the Netherlands (despite the fact they haven't qualified for the last two major tournaments) and a loss in Germany could see the world champions in a relegation battle. France weren't always at their best in Russia but improved as the tournament progressed culminating in that 4-2 win over Croatia in the final. They are unbeaten in their last 11 games and have only a loss to Colombia in their last 19. It'll be interesting to see how countries treat this tournament, just how strong a line-up they play should tell us that. Going to Germany and winning is never easy so the bet here is a double chance on France to win or draw this match.
