Georgia vs Scotland Prediction & Betting Tips - Euro
by Joseph King in Euro Predictions
Group A in the UEFA Euro 2024 qualifiers sees fourth-place Georgia hosting second-place Scotland for the sixth of eight fixtures. The top two qualifying teams in this group have already been decided despite three of the five teams still having two games to play. With 15 points each, Spain and Scotland have a five point lead over third-place Norway, who only have only one game remaining on their fixture list. Scotland has now secured their spot in the UEFA Euro Championships for the second straight edition following a 20-year absence from 2000 to 2020. With a points total of seven, Georgia trails the top two by eight points meaning they will not be able to secure automatic qualification to the Euros. However, their performance in the Nations League, which saw them finish with the highest points total in League C, has advanced them into the playoffs. Georgia now awaits the fourth-best ranked team who they will face off against in the playoff semi-final.

Georgia - Scotland: Form Analysis
Georgia started out the Euro 2024 qualifying campaign on the right foot with a draw with Norway and a win over Cyprus. However, the wheels started to come off in June and September, where they would suffer three consecutive losses. One of those defeats came by way of a humiliating 7-1 scoreline at home against Spain. Georgia was able to bounce back with a 4-0 home win over Cyprus in their most recent appearance back in October. With an 8-0 demolition of Thailand in a friendly three days prior to their win over Cyprus, the Crusaders have now won back-to-back matches for the first time in 2023.
Scotland are having a brilliant qualifying campaign as they currently find themselves tied on points with Spain at 15 and trailing only on goal differential. They’ve amassed five wins from their six group stage fixtures so far. The highlight of the Tartan Army’s run so far will undoubtedly be their 2-0 win over eighth-ranked Spain in Glasgow back in March. Spain were ultimately able to get revenge by the same scoreline in Madrid seven months later, representing Scotland’s only defeat of the group. Despite already booking their ticket to Germany, Steve Clarke will be looking for a strong finish in the next two games. Scotland will also be attempting to snap out of a three game losing skid after friendly defeats to both England and France on either side of the Spain loss.

Georgia & Scotland Squad Analysis
Georgia manager Willy Sagnol has a near clean bill of health ahead of this match. The only player missing out will be 18-year-old midfielder Gabriel Sigua who is serving a red card suspension. The Basel midfielder has two caps to his name for the Georgian national team. The star of the show is Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia who has established himself as one of the most dangerous wingers in the Serie A. He’ll likely be joined by Ajax’s Georges Mikautadze up top as Sagnol could opt to deploy his 5-3-2 formation.
Scotland manager Steve Clarke has an injury headache to deal with as his team will be without a number of key names for this trip to Tbilisi. Captain Andy Robertson went down in the team’s loss to Spain with an arm injury which required surgery. They’ll also be without Robertson’s immediate replacements Kieran Tierney and Aaron Hickey, leaving a definite defensive crisis at the back. The Tartan Army will also have to make do without Southampton striker Che Adams.
