AC Milan will look to stay close to the top of Serie A table when they face a struggling Genoa side this weekend. This matchday eight will be played at Stadio Luigi Ferraris with the hosts 14th on eight points and the visitors 2nd on 18 points. Genoa are five points above the relegation zone and will steer clear of the red zone for another week irrespective of the result here. They have won and drawn two games each this Serie A season, losing three of their seven matches. The hosts come into this match on the back of some indifferent form – winning only one of their last five league games, drawing and losing two each. To go with that, they have lost seven of their last nine Serie A matches against Milan, which adds to their discomfort.

Milan are separated from the top only via goal difference from Inter Milan. The Rossoneri are coming off a drab goalless draw against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League. That result extended their unbeaten run to five competitive matches, winning three and drawing two. The record is even better in Serie A with Milan winning six of their seven matches this season, the last three in a row. That included a 2-0 win over Lazio last time out giving them a chance to stay on the coattails of their bitter rivals. Their lone loss of the season came on the road in a 5-1 loss to city rivals Inter, but otherwise they have won three of their last four away Serie A matches.
