Genk have had two good outings and will hope this rubs in when they welcome West Ham United for their Group H Europa League clash on Thursday. These two sides are on extreme ends in the group; Genk bottom with three points and West Ham top with nine points. Genk’s last outing in Europa League ended in a 3-0 loss to West Ham United and they went on to lose 3-0 to Gent in their domestic league. They have since recovered with two big wins, scoring 12 goals in matches against Sint-Eloois-Winkel and Zulte Waregem, but this will be a much tougher challenge. Genk have failed to score in three of their last five matches and they will be facing a very good defensive team. They’ve conceded two or more in four of their last five matches and from a defensive perspective, that will be an issue. Genk are coming from two straight home losses and failed to score in them. In the Europa League, they’ve failed to score in three of their last five matches, and have three losses and a win in five.

West Ham United are on a roll; they are coming from a 4-1 win over Aston Villa and before that, they eliminated Manchester City from the League Cup. The win over Villa was their fourth in five matches and they are unbeaten in the last five games. West Ham have registered seven wins in their last 10 matches and lost just two. In the last five matches as well, they have four clean sheets and only failed to score in one of the last 10. The Hammers have been very solid lately and though they play away from home, they will still retain their tag as favorites. In their earlier away game in the Europa League, they thumped Dinamo Zagreb 2-0 in Croatia. They will be eyeing the same here, knowing that a win secures not just a place in the next round but also top spot in the group. They have three straight wins and clean sheets in the Europa League.
