Group F in the UEFA Europa Conference League will get underway, with Genk playing host to Fiorentina on Thursday evening. The hosts finished second in First Division A last season and were involved in Champions League qualification, though they were beaten in the first round by Servette. That result took them to seven matches unbeaten in all competitions and into sixth place in their domestic league. Meanwhile, Fiorentina bounced back from a crushing defeat against Inter Milan to beat Atlanta 3-2 over the weekend. With that win, they are now up to eighth place in Serie A with seven points, five behind the current league leaders. The visitors were made to work for their place in this competition in qualifying. They lost their first-leg qualifier 1-0 to Rapid Vienna but managed to come back with a 2-0 win a week later at home to win the tie 2-1 on aggregate. Fiorentina reached the final of this competition last season but were beaten 2-1 by West Ham United. Viola will be determined to challenge for the title again and will be looking to get their 2023-24 campaign off to a winning start here.
