Mid table action in the Super Lig this weekend presents an interesting grudge match when Genclerbirligi host Antalyaspor. Only one point separates the clubs with the home side in 11th and the visitors in 12th place. European football is too far away at this stage of the season but there is still the possibility of either side being pulled into a relegation battle, only six points separating Antalyaspor from the drop zone. If being in more immediate danger is not incentive enough for Antalyaspor to win this game, perhaps they will be motivated by revenge. They suffered their biggest defeat of the campaign in the reverse fixture when Genclerbirligi showed up to their patch and won 6-0. That's the definition of being a bad guest. Antalyaspor started that game horrendously, going three goals down by the 22nd minute. The sending off of Bahadir Ozturk compounded their misery and multiplied the difficulty of their task. What followed was a day of misery for the home side, a chastening defeat that they will use as a recipe for revenge fuel. 

Surprisingly difficult to beat, Antalyaspor will be proud of their record of two defeats in 12 games this year. If they could only stop drawing games, they would be able to climb the table. Genclerbirligi are in a vulnerable state after losing three of their last five games. Both squads are largely made up of veteran stars, as is the case for much of the Turkish top flight. The seven highest-rated players from the Genclerbirligi squad, according to WhoScored, are all over the age of 30. It is the same for four of the top five playing for Antalyaspor. Freshening up in the summer may be required if these clubs want to push on. In the meantime, it may be a final opportunity for the elder statesmen of Antalyaspor to get revenge.
