The Turkish Super Lig returns this weekend with the highlight fixture of round nine seeing Galatasaray entertain Besiktas on Saturday. Galatasaray have started the campaign superbly and currently sit second in the standings, six points above Besiktas in fourth. Okan Buruk’s men are yet to suffer defeat and have won seven of their eight games. They sit two points adrift of leaders Fenerbahce and can move up to the summit with a win here. This could however only be for 24 hours as Fenerbahce play on Sunday. Galatasaray have replicated this form to the Champions League where they also haven’t lost. In total, Cimbom have played 16 matches this season and have won 13 times. Gala have won their last five games and defeated Antalyaspor 2-0 away from home last time out.

Besiktas have lacked the consistency of their rivals and find themselves already eight points off the pace. This prompted the club’s hierarchy to make a coaching change at the start of October. After losing 3-2 at home against Lugano in the Conference League, Senol Gunes was relieved of his duties. Former Besiktas and Gala striker Burak Yilmaz is serving in a caretaker role and won his first match in charge. This was a 2-0 success at home against Istanbulspor right before the recently concluded international break. The Black Eagles, who haven’t won away to Gala since 2017, have suffered their two league defeats while away from home.
