Both Gabon and Libya will be looking to push Egypt off the top spot in Group F going into the final two matches of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers. Gabon host Libya with two points separating the two nations. Third placed Gabon have four points while Libya are second with six points. Two late goals in their last game, against Angola earned Gabon their first win in this group, and that happens to also be their only win in five matches. For Gabon to finish top they need two wins in their final two matches and hope that Egypt loses their game against Angola. Their defensive record is however not the best, as they have one clean sheet only in the last five matches and in three of their last five they’ve conceded two or more goals. Both teams have scored in three of their last four matches but they’ve scored in each of their last four and at home, Gabon are unbeaten in their last four home matches, scoring two or more in three.

While Gabon have proven to be weak in defence, they should be able to cope with Libya who have shown great weakness in attack. They did beat Gabon 2-1 in their first meeting but that is the only time in the last five matches that they’ve scored more than a goal. They’ve failed to score completely in three of the last five and get to this game straight from back to back losses against Egypt. They too, have slim hopes of finishing top, and will be praying that Egypt lose both their remaining games, which on paper looks impossible. Libya have one clean sheet in five matches and in their last five matches they’ve failed to score in four. In four matches against Gabon, Libya have two wins, a loss and one ended in a 1-1 draw before Libya claimed the spoils on post match penalties.
