Gabon will be looking to bounce back when they host the Central African Republic in their next AFCON qualification match. Three points separate the teams in Group B following contrasting returns from Match Day 1. Read on for our prediction.

The home team suffered a 4-1 defeat at the hands of group favorites Tunisia on Friday. That marked their third loss in five matches, a run that has also yielded one win only. Gabon will stay positive coming into this first ever meeting with CAR.

They have a good run at home and that should boost their confidence. In the last six AFCON qualifying games at home, Gabon posted four wins. They have just two losses in the last 15 AFCON qualifiers they played at home.

A notable stat in their recent matches is the high-scoring nature they come with. A total of 16 goals were scored in Gabon’s last five matches.

The Central African Republic will be looking to build on their powerful start to the qualifiers. They overcame Lesotho 3-1 in their opening Group B game to join Tunisia at the top. With the result, they registered a fourth win in five matches.

Apart from their wins, CAR have impressed in their attacking abilities. They scored at least three goals in four of their last five matches, though in the last two they conceded four times.

With this scoring form, CAR will hope to improve on their away run, which currently stands at no win in four. Three of those four matches ended in defeat, where they conceded at least twice in each.
