This is an intriguing tie in the second round of the Carabao Cup. Both sides had differing results at the weekend which will have had an effect on their confidence levels. Southampton had made a poor start to the new Premier League season with a defeat at Burnley followed by a home loss to Liverpool. A third straight defeat would have affected their confidence even more but they went to Brighton and Hove Albion and came home with the three points. They have a decent record in the Carabao Cup with a loss in the final to Manchester United a few years ago. 

Fulham have made an encouraging start to life back in the Championship. They have been playing some classy football by all accounts and had beaten Millwall 4-0 in midweek. However, the weeknd saw them lose their unbeaten home league record with a 2-1 defeat by Nottingham Forest. That loss has left them in fifth place in the Championship compared to the 17th place in the Premier League that their opponents hold. Both teams are likely to make changes for this game and a double chance bet on Southampton to win or lose this game is the suggested bet.
