Fulham returned to action in the Premier League in style, with a resounding 3-0 away win at nine-man Crystal Palace. They hope to bag three more points in their year-ending game, a league match at home to struggling Southampton. A loss to Brighton in their last game saw Southampton drop to the foot of the league, with 12 points so far, while Fulham are ninth on 22 points. Aleksandr Mitrovic returned to scoring ways in the Premier League, netting his 10th of the season to round off a comfortable outing against Palace, with Tim Ream and Bobby Reid scoring the other two. After conceding late in the earlier two matches and dropping points, this was a sure outing for Fulham as they registered a first win in four league games. Four of their last five league matches have produced over 2.5 goals with Fulham scoring three on two occasions while they’ve conceded more than a goal in three of the five. They have one win in five league matches at home, and seven of their last eight home league matches have produced over 2.5 goals.

Just like Fulham, Southampton aren’t doing so well defensively, and participating in the League Cup has come with extra assignments, which guarantees fatigue. They have no clean sheet in their last five matches across all competitions, even though they have scored in all those five matches. The Saints could not build on their 2-1 win over Lincoln City in the League Cup, suffering a 3-1 home loss to Brighton in the Premier League in their latest game. James Ward-Prowse scored the Saints’ consolation goal in the 73rd minute, a tad too late, after the visitors had taken a 3-0 lead. Southampton have now conceded three or more goals in each of their last four league games, and while they have no clean sheet in five, they’ve scored in all but one. Their away run is poorer though; the Saints have failed to score in three of their last five away league matches and lost four. They however have one win in their last five away league games.
