Fulham and Sheffield United will be involved in a relegation battle on Sunday at Craven Cottage in the next round of the Premier League. Both sides go to the game stuck in the bottom three, with Fulham on 19 points, in 18th place, and Sheffield being bottom with 11 points. No teams need three points as badly as these two, with relegation a reality as the season nears the end. Fulham managed a 1-1 draw with Burnley on Wednesday, a result that they won’t be too happy about, as they remain six points below the safe zone. In their last 14 league matches they’ve now won just once, and for survival to be a reality, this run must change. Avoiding defeat in the last three matches is a good start and they’ve also kept two clean sheets in the three matches. They’re however without a win in nine home matches and failed to score in six of them and have conceded two or more in three of the last four home matches. Fulham are struggling to keep clean sheets at home, but the worst is that they aren’t scoring as much as they should at home. In five of their last six home matches in the league, they’ve failed to score. Striker Aleksandar Mitrovic is out with Covid-19 related complications which further worsens their situation.

Sheffield United also badly want a win, after a very poor campaign that leaves them 14 points off the safety zone. Their struggle to beat the drop suffered a big blow in the 3-0 loss to West Ham United in their last game. While the team has shown great effort in recent matches, the damage already done is too big. It worsened with the injury to defender John Egan in the West Ham game. The Blades head to this game with two straight losses in the league and have just one clean sheet in the league this season. They’re the side with most of the unwanted stats – the most losses in the league (19) and the least goals scored (15). Sheffield have conceded the first goal in 18 Premier League games and have conceded 40 goals already. Just one win in 18 away league matches doesn’t leave them as favorites going to this game, and they’ve failed to score in four of the last five away league games.
