Fulham are in the Premier League relegation zone and four points from safety. This FA Cup third round tie at home to League Two Oldham Athletic gives them a welcome break from their relegation battle and a win could give them some confidence. They have only lost one of their last four games but only won one of the last eight. Their two recent wins over Southampton and Huddersfield Town have both come at home and that's going to be key in this cup tie as they have only lost one of their last five home games. Last season they lost in the third round losing at home to Southampton. 

Oldham Athletic are tenth in League Two and only four points adrift of the play-off places. That's a big improvement as they were as low as 17th at one point earlier in the season. They have won four of their last seven league games but are still prone to a bad performance as seen when losing 6-0 away at Carlisle United. Oldham have had to beat non-league Hampton & Richmond and Maidstone United to reach the third round. Before those two away wins, they'd gone five away FA Cup ties without a win. Fulham are struggling in the Premier League but are three leagues above their opponents and can get a home win here.
