The hosts are in second place in group A, tied with West Ham on six points, while the visitors are fourth. Freiburg won the reverse fixture between these sides 3-1 a fortnight ago. However, after drawing 3-3 with Borussia M’gladbach over the weekend, they have now gone three consecutive matches without a victory. That leaves them in eighth place in the Bundesliga and four points behind the top six. Freiburg’s home form has also taken a notable dip, with just one win in their last four games, along with two losses and a draw. The hosts' major issue this term has been their defensive performances, as they have already let in 19 goals in the league. That is the worst record of any side in the top half of the table. A loss here could see them knocked out of the competition, provided the Hammers also beat Olympiacos.
