France may have been disappointed by failing to win Euro 2016 but their opponents in this friendly have had an even larger disappointment in recent weeks. Wales did incredibly well to reach the last four at Euro 2016 but a series of draws and then a home loss to Ireland saw them fail to reach the World Cup finals for the first time since 1958 so the 60th anniversary of that statistic goes ahead. Wales had gone nine games unbeaten until losing that vital qualifier but had won just three of those matches and the last ten games have produced three wins, six draws and a very costly defeat. Their record in friendlies isn't impressive either with four losses in the last five and they have lost their last five away friendlies scoring once and none in the last four. France had a difficult World Cup qualifying group but still finished top four points ahead of Sweden. They are unbeaten in their last five games and only have one loss in their last ten friendlies. Home form in the World Cup qualifiers was impressive with four wins and a draw. Wales aren't quite in turmoil at present but there is a lot of uncertainty over whether their manager Chris Coleman will sign a new contract and massive disappointment over being knocked out of the World Cup.
