The first leg of the Copa Libertadores semi-final sees an all-Brazilian clash when Fluminense take on Internacional. The winner of this tie will go on to face either Palmeiras or Boca Juniors in the final. Fluminense are the only remaining team in of the four semi-finalists to have never won this competition. The oddsmakers have Fluminense as the second-favorites to finally put an end to that drought, coming in just behind favorites Palmeiras. The Tricolor are sitting fifth in the Brazilian domestic league but are only three points off second-place. They come into this match off the back of a 1-0 home win over Cruzeiro last Tuesday which was their third victory in the last four. Fernando Diniz’s squad has been superb at the Maracana this season, racking up 10 victories, three draws and zero defeats in the league. This has carried over to the Libertadores where Fluminense have a 4-1-0 home record.

Internacional are having an abysmal league season but all will be forgiven if they can lift La Copa. Colorado have slumped to 13th in the Brasileirão following the team’s latest 2-1 away loss to Athletico Paranaense last week. This puts them one place off the Copa Sudamericana qualification spots which are awarded to the 12th to seventh-placed teams. The defeat also marked the end of a five game unbeaten run for Internacional which had seen them win three games and manage two 0-0 away draws. Inter come into this first leg as the underdogs with the bookmakers clearly not placing much faith in their poor away form. The visitors have won just two games on the road in the Brasileirão although results in the Copa Libertadores have been better. In five away games in this competition, Inter have two wins, two draws and only one defeat.
