Fleetwood Town vs Sheffield Wednesday Prediction & Betting Tips - FA Cup
by Kennedy Kechula | in FA Cup Predictions
Fleetwood Town and Sheffield Wednesday will replay their FA Cup fourth-round tie on Tuesday at Fleetwood Town’s Highbury Stadium. The two sides drew 1-1 at Hillsborough in the initial meeting. The winner will progress to the fifth round, for an away tie against either Ipswich Town or Burnley. An own goal by Fleetwood Town defender Josh Earl cancelled out Promise Omochere’s opener to set up this replay. Tuesday’s match will be the third game between the two teams in the space of 17 days. Sheffield Wednesday won the first (league) meeting of the year 1-0 at home. The Owls have won the FA Cup three times in their history but haven’t progressed past the fifth round in the last 10 seasons. They are in the fourth round for only the third year in the previous 10 and were eliminated at the first round last season. The hosts are currently top of the EFL League One table thanks to 18 wins from 28 matches and look primed for a return to the EFL Championship.
Town are struggling in League One and could find themselves fighting relegation for the second season in a row. The Lancashire club has managed just six wins in 28 league matches and has suffered 11 losses. One of the losses was a 1-0 upset away to Sheffield Wednesday about a fortnight ago. Despite their shortcomings in the league, Town have fared extremely well in the FA Cup where for the first time in their history have reached the fourth round. The Cods will be eager to make more club history on Tuesday. They will be buoyed by playing at their home ground where they have won two of their three wins in the competition.

Our Fleetwood Town vs Sheffield Wednesday Prediction
This match will see Sheffield Wednesday play away for the first time in the FA Cup this season. They have won more than once away to Fleetwood in the league but this is a whole different competition as can be proven by the fact Wednesday needed an own goal to avoid elimination in the first match. Five of Fleetwood’s seven goals in the FA Cup have come at home and both teams have conceded in all but one of their matches in the competition. Our prediction for Fleetwood v Sheffield Wednesday is therefore for both teams to score.
